Many reasons to celebrate
On September the 17th HOUSE OF OPPORTUITYin Skravena (House of Joshua) celebrated its 3rd Birthday. For the three years gone, the project welcomed over a dozen of young people who left state homes for children deprived of parental care. Each one of them (according to FSCI’s analysis) received a unique chance to stand on their feet and make the first step towards independence supported by professionals and friends from the team of House of Joshua and FSCI.
“I never had to steal in order to eat. I have seen this happen to other young people and I don’t blame them. They didn’t have other choice.” says Tsetsi who completed the programme successfully this year and was admitted to do a degree in Management and Marketing in European Business College in Sofia.”
The celebration in the house was also a Thank You to a group of volunteers from England, who joined The Trussell Trust’s Trek Challenge aiming to raise funds for opening another HOUSE OF OPPORTUNITY. The English spent a week trekking in Pirin, supported by friends and family who responded to their enthusiasm and desire to help, and donated funds for the project.
In the fully renovated garden of the House of Joshua we also celebrated the success of our three new young people who passed their state exams in September.
Special guests of the event were the Mayor of Skravena Mr. Ivan Ivanov and his wife who have been supporting the project since the beginning.
