Happier at the Prom

10 underprivileged girls will celebrate their high school graduation dressed in boutique outfits from Fashion House „Ashante”. Girls from orphanages in Vratsa, Sofia, Gabrovo and Ruse will have the chance to feel very special at one of the most important days in their lives.

The graduates will have the chance to join the House of Opportunity Programme delivered by the Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion (FSCI), which is primarily focused on creating equal opportunities for underprivileged young people. When they turn 18, young people from the orphanages are left with no support in the transition to independence. Thus they become easy victims of traffic, prostitution, begging to survive, crime, addictions etc. The House of Opportunity Programme gives residential care for 5 to 8 young people in a small family-type house. At the moment FSCI is taking care of 13 young people in 2 houses in the regions of Botevgrad and Gabrovo. Joining the programme, young people from orphanages find a cosy home, support and professional advice and guidance by the team of FSCI.
