Second annual FSCI Balkans Network Conference

Social Transformation in the Balkans and beyond

In March 2016, FSCI organised the second Network conference with the theme of Social Transformation. FSCI, its Partners and friends came together in Belgrade to celebrate their work, encourage one another and learn together about how we can continue to work for the social inclusion of vulnerable people by changing lives individually, in communities and at national level.

With 11 countries, over 60 participants and over 20 NGOs represented there was a great wealth of experience to draw on, gained in all corners of the Balkan region and beyond.

Besides plenary sessions, participants were able to attend practical workshops to learn about starting, running and developing FSCI’s House of Opportunity, Early Years Education and Social Enterprise programmes as well as discuss topics such as working with young people who have been institutionalised and fundraising & social media. Participants also had the option to visit the House of Opportunity Belgrade run by Center Star, FSCI’s Serbian partners – the first House of Opportunity that opened outside of Bulgaria as part of the FSCI Development Programme.

It was very encouraging to hear about the work of all five FSCI partners and exciting to watch a film clip about the House of Opportunity in Varaždin, Croatia, that opened in February and was broadcast on Croatian TV shortly afterwards.
