Gabrovo businesses met to discuss social responsibility

On the 28th of September, 2001 in the building of the Municipality of Gabrovo was held the first meeting of the business community in Gabrovo, with the topic “Social meeting of the business in Gabrovo”.

Its format was a business breakfast, which aim was not to take too much from the precious time of the business, but at the same time to succeed in making the business community acquainted with the key points of the topic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and to introduce to it same good practices.

Organizers of the project were “The Foundation for social change and inclusion” (FSCI), CSR Bulgaria and the Municipality of Gabrovo . The main goal of the meeting was to improveme of the communication between the business organizations, the nongovernmental sector and the society, as well as finding the points of contact between these sectors in the field of the social responsibility.

The main topics treated were the conception of the corporate social responsibility and its possible manifestations in the Gabrovo region. During the meeting the participants had the possibility to build partnerships and to outline their next or first steps in the field of CSR. The House of Opportunity project was introduced too; a project delivered in the territory of the Municipality and carried out thanks to the assistance of the Regional Administration staff and the representatives of the local business.

Through this meeting the FSCI wanted to show their acknowledgement to everybody, who has taken part in the delivering of the project House of Opportunity, as well as to introduce to other businesses and citizens of Gabrovo the possibility to support the social cause. The project assists young people, who have left social institutions, to become integrated in the society and to lead independent life.

The deputy Mayor of Gabrovo who attended the meeting, Eng. Dobrin Savchev, manifested his gladness that such positive events take place in the Municipality of Gabrovo and declared his willingness to continue to support such meetings and social causes. The main parties, supporting the project House of Opportunity, Jeny and Rumen Popov, participated also in the meeting and related about their reasons and their delight to help the young people form the home.

There were immediate results from the meeting. Marin Boevski donated a brand new refrigerator to House of Opportunity , four other participants expressed their willingness to come and visit the home, five participants will help with non financial donation.
